Kona Brewing threw a huge party on Maui this past weekend to celebrate the release of Kai Golden Ale, part of the Makana Series marking their 21st anniversary. Each beer in the Makana Series is brewed with a unique local ingredient and the brewers sourced the water for this brew from 3,000 feet below the Kona coast off the Big Island. The light 4% abv wheat ale was fermented with both an ale and hefe yeast to create a crisp beer with notes of banana and clove.
As with each beer in the Makana Series a portion of all of the proceeds are being donated to a local charity, The Surfrider Foundation in the case of Kai. The launch party at Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu was crowned with performances by The Green, Gomega and Pi’ilani Arias and Dani Girl. Local brewtographer Bryan Berkowitz braved the crowd to take some amazing images of the event and the delicious 6 course media dinner before the concert.
Kai Golden Ale will be available at both Kona Brewing Pub locations (Kona and Hawaii Kai) as well as a select number of bars around Hawaii.
