As far as West Coast breweries that are the most sought after in Hawaii, San Diego based Green Flash Brewing is at the top of the list. Well, you won’t have to bring bottles back from the mainland anymore. Green Flash will begin distributing to Hawaii later this summer with draft and bottles.
Details are still coming in and I’m not sure what beers we will see, but you can most likely expect the core staples like West Coast IPA, Double Stout and Hop Head Red. This is a huge addition to the craft beer lineup in Hawaii and I hope this will open up the doors to get more breweries to distribute here. I ran into Green Flash owner Mike Hinkley on Maui a few months ago and he was very eager to expand to Hawaii.
Green Flash recently updated all of their bottle labels and reformulated some of their beers. The best selling West Coast IPA and Hop Head Red were bumped up to 8.1% making them Double IPAs and got an even larger dose of dry hopping. An extra hop addition of Citra was also added to West Coast IPA.
I’ll post more details as they become available included expected shelf dates.
