This week is Sierra Nevada Week.
In celebration of Sierra Nevada’s 34th anniversary and Murphy’s 27th anniversary on the weekend of November 16th and 17th, Murphy’s will feature Sierra Nevada beers on our two rotating draught handles starting with Boomerang IPA and Victory Alt Route.
This celebration will culminate Friday November 14th starting 6pm with our Anniversary Party on Merchant St in front of Murphy’s where we’ll tap “27 beers for 27 years.”. A unique feature of this event will include the option to purchase individual tastes or a full cup. Murph will make some great festival food available for purchase and entertainment will be provided courtesy of Sierra Nevada featuring Candy Diaz. This is a great opportunity to try some unique beers as many of the beers are not available outside of the brewery in Chico.
Some of the featured beers include 4 different vintages of the Bigfoot Barleywine, 4 beers from the Beer Camp Across America program where Sierra Nevada collaborated with exceptional American breweries, 2 versions of the Great American Beer Festival award winning Narwhal Imperial Stout, as well as the classic Pale Ale, Torpedo, and Kellerweis. A full list will be posted on our Facebook page.
Proceeds from this event will go to the support the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Last year’s event was a great success and we hope you, and the entire community, can join us for a fun evening of food, music, and of course, great beer while supporting a worthy cause.

Old Blowhole Barley Wine ABV: 10.7% IBU: 73 – It has an intense, rich, hearty caramel malt and toffee flavor and assertive hoppiness. The bold maltiness is balanced by extremely liberal amounts of hops added throughout the brewing process. An abundance of hops were added in the brewkettle and whirlpool, yielding exceptionally complex flavor and intense grassy-citrus and piney aroma!!!
Oktoberfest ABV: 6.3% IBU: 38 – Oktoberfest is a German style beer that falls in the Martzen category. The special aspect of this lager is that this created from the second runnings of our Barley Wine. This beer showcases a malty profile with a bit of a kick as it comes in at 6.27% ABV.
