Tiny Bubbles: Hawaii Beer Reads for 07/01/15

Honolulu Beeriest Beach City in America

My picks of beer news from around the web that you need to read and my two cents on the topics.  Most of the time it’s Hawaii beer news topics, but every once in a while you’ll find other general beer related topics.

Star Advertiser – Big news from Maui Brewing Company today. They will be opening their first Oahu restaurant in the Jimmy Buffet location at the Holiday Inn Resort Waikiki Beachcomber. This is a huge and positive leap for Maui Brewing Company that will put them smack in the middle of thirsty Waikiki tourists. The massive 20,000 square foot space will undergo renovations and isn’t expected to open until late 2016. The press release notes that the new space will be a “brewpub,” but makes no mention of adding a brewing system to the space. http://bit.ly/1a0aFxD

Craftbeer.com – Five years ago Honolulu wouldn’t show up on any beer list of best cities. Oh how the times have change. Honolulu was just named one of the 5 Beeriest Beer Towns in America by Craftbeer.com, the consumer facing website of the Brewers Association. We’ve got a great beer scene and the best beach weather in the entire country. The list also includes Bar Harbor, Maine, Seaside, Oregon, San Luis Obispo, California, and Wilmington, North Carolina. This is big distinction for our local beer scene and hopefully the word spreads. http://bit.ly/GzXhYG

Thrillist – The king of listicles has launched a Honolulu edition. Geared primarily towards young males, Thrillist’s first Honolulu artricle lists the top 15 Most Important Bars in the city. http://bit.ly/15MuIgK

Cascade Brewing – The treats keep coming from Cascade Brewing. Apricot, Blackberry and Kriek are already here and next up is Sang Rouge, a blended sour red ale that’s been age in oak for up to three years. Keep your eyes peeled for this sometime in July.  http://bit.ly/18QjUCi
