Tiny Bubbles: Hawaii Beer Reads for 1/22/14

Goose Island Sour Sisters

My picks of beer news from around the web that you need to read and my two cents on the topics.  Most of the time it’s Hawaii beer news topics, but every once in a while you’ll find other general beer related topics.

Star Advertiser – I have a love affair with Brett beers, which made writing this article so much fun. Very happy to see Goose Island Lolita in Hawaii. Finally getting more of their beers here and hopefully next year we’ll get some of the other Sour Sisters (I had to get Halia and Gillian from the mainland). http://bit.ly/1eT9EKr

The Street – A very well written article that I feel everyone should at least consider. Not everyone will agree, but some very valid points are made about the validity and future of the term “craft beer.” I’m a beer lover first and believe people should drink what makes them happy, regardless of labels and terms that a group decides to slap on things. The term “craft” is overused and becomes more convoluted each year. Read more about these 5 Beers that are not considered to be “craft.” http://bit.ly/1hMdI1K

Good Beer Hunting – If you’ve never visited this blog, then thank me later for introducing you. One of my personal favorites with beautiful photography and well thought out stories (yes stories, not another review site.) Writer Michael Kiser visited Hill Farmstead in Vermont and captured some stunning photographs of the highly acclaimed brewery and brewer Shaun Hill. Who wouldn’t want to venture into the woods and soak in the stunning scenery, while sipping some of their incredible beers. http://bit.ly/1dPKQGy. You can also read more about Hill Farmstead in the NY Times.

Hawaii Public Radio – An American Trappist brewery? Sounds strange, but a brewery doesn’t have to be in Europe to gain approval to be Trappist. Maybe we’ll eventually see these beers in Hawaii someday. http://bit.ly/1cWbEiy

Beer Pulse – Lots of news coming out of Deschutes. We can expect to see 6 packs of Fresh Squeezed IPA and a whole bunch of other new beers hitting the market in 2014. http://bit.ly/1biQJGu
