It just got a whole lot easier to get your hands on beers from Stewbum & Stonewall Brewing. The tiny nano-brewery, which opened its doors late last year, has just opened a small tasting room where you can get growler fills and samples of all of their beers.
Due to the brewery’s very small output, up until now you’ve only been able to find their beers at a few locations around town. With the opening of the tasting room, owner Darren Garvey, is finally able to fill growlers and showcase all of his beers at one time. The small tasting room is at the front of the brewery and you’re able to peer in to see all of the brewing equipment. For those who were Kickstarter supporters and have been hanging on to those branded growlers, you can finally get them filled up.
Along with growler fills and 3 ounce tasters (which are currently free), you can purchase brewery gear like t-shirts, hats and glasses. There are a few stools at the bar counter where you can post up and chat with Darren about his beers. Currently there are three beers available, Swear Jar IPA, Batch 518 Pale Ale and Makana Island Wheat (my personal favorite). Be on the look out for an Imperial Stout to show up soon. Garvey says he hopes to always have at least 4 beers available with at least one new beer rotating regularly.
The brewery is located in a small industrial building in Kaneohe and parking can be tight on the weekdays before 5pm, so look for street parking. After 5pm on weekdays or anytime on the weekends, you can park in any stall in the parking lot. Also don’t forget to bring a brewery sticker to add to the sticker wall. If the brewery isn’t currently on the wall, you get $2 off a growler fill.
The Stewbum & Stonewall tasting room is open Thursday and Friday from 4-9pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12-6pm. Their hours match up with fellow east side brewery, Lanikai, so you can easily hit up both breweries in one trip.
We need to go here and fill our growlers!
